Watchers

A friend of mine whom I haven't seen since high school graduation finally got a FB page and we reconnected. She asked me if I had published my book of poetry yet....no. And so she got me to thinking.

Way back when in middle school I started writing poetry. I remember my 5th grade teacher hung one of them on the classroom door and made a big deal out of it. I wrote poetry all through high school and even wrote a few short stories. I did manage to get one poem published in a book. Now, I was no Emily Dickens but that was how I expressed myself back then. All seniors in my high school were interviewed before graduating and in my interview I did say that I wanted to have my name on the book shelf one day. Well....

So, somewhere along the way I quite writing. Must've been about the time that I was taking 15-18 hours a semester in college, sometimes working up to three part-time jobs, taking care of my little girl, and my "husband" at the time being completely useless, the responsibilities of taking care of the house also fell on me. I quite writing because it was a matter of survival. I couldn't have put pen to paper at the time unless it was school related. My muse turned our focus on to arts/crafts and photography instead.

Since talking to my friend yesterday, it got me to thinking. I've written a few things here and there since life has slowed down. Well, if you count running an in-home daycare with 4 children all under the age of 2 slowed down! I've written two short stories for Koontah which are posted over at her Cafe. And I've written some poetry too....

I think I'm ready to get back into writing again! I just wonder if my muse is up to this...

Life is good too! Busy with the daycare kids. Turned my 9 month old loose with finger paint earlier this month. Only child yet who hasn't tried to taste it!

Been trying to write and read some; wish Koontah would hurry up with chapter 11 of DSR and when will you give us more of Lancer and Roddi?

A baby who didn't try to eat the paint!? Enroll that person at Harvard at once! I have first and second graders who still try things now and then.

Koontah is nearly ready to unleash 11 on the universe. (I get some sneak peeks!) <-- Yes, I am gloating.

I have clawed my way out of writer's block just this month. I have 45 very stilted pages to show for it. I am rusty! At least I am working though.....

Keep writing! We demand more! Do not make me send people to your house with signs to camp out on your lawn until you do.

My son (16 months) has to dip a finger in the paint first and lick it before proceeding to paint. Figure when I turn them loose with glue, he'll be the child that eats it!
